My husband and I sometimes joke that the Internet is a great place. You can find all sorts of things, like music, books, travel information, and… your spouse.
We say this, of course, because that’s exactly how we met: online. For us, (and quite a few others!) Internet dating worked out quite well.
The Internet has forever changed our world, and dating is no exception to that. People can post profiles on the web, search for a date, and now, even do a little research before you meet someone new. I was struck by a recent CNN report that said the latest trend in Internet dating is googling the name of your date before you meet him or her.
Of course, this can bring about a host of problems. Mistaken identity, for one. Possible invasion of privacy, for another. Still, while you're waiting to meet you new date, it is tempting to simply type in a name and see what you came up with. I can't say I ever did that myself but it is an intriguing idea.
How about you? Have you ever googled a date? Or, for that matter, met someone new, hit it off, and then googled them?
I’m curious as to the precipitous for doing this. Is it just curiosity? Or this is the first step when you suspect your partner might be up to no good.
