Those looking for ways to let someone know that they are loved beyond saying "I love you" may consider these suggestions and make it a happy Valentine's Day.

Often the choice for Valentine’s day, fancy dates and lovely gifts can be and are enjoyable. But Valentine’s Day can also be simple and just as meaningful. There are many simple and sweet ways to express love for someone, ways that last beyond Valentine’s Day.

Dinner, Dessert and Togetherness

It is easy to appreciate a good meal and to enjoy one together. Try making the loved one his favourite dinner. Better yet, make dinner together. Bake cookies together and find out how fun it is. Or take the loved one out for dessert.

Spending time together is important for good relationships and is one of the best ways to show love. It is as simple as talking a leisurely walk, going for a country drive or visiting a park. For a romantic feeling, watch the sunset together. Go stargazing later. For a nice time spent together, share in activities that each one enjoys. Whatever it is, make time be together, even if is not filled it with activities.

Little Things

Sometimes it is the “little things” that give the greatest feeling when it comes to showing love. Try buying her a “because you're special” gift. One could easily make her loved one a gift, like a card. Write her a poem or a song and warm her heart. When he reads the poem or sings the song, promise to be his biggest fan. For little ways to show love, always say please and thank you, phone her just to say hello, compliment his looks or tell her she’s beautiful.

Big Ideas

The time spent together does not always need activities for one share love. Take the time to talk with the loved one. Ask him about his day and listen while he responds. Share this with him also. Ask him what he is thinking or share thoughts with him. Be sure to listen while she talks and become comfortable with quiet moments. Let him share his goals and ideas and tell him about personal goals. Listening to a loved goes a long way to show love.

Tell her simply why she is appreciated. Let him know that he is needed. Offer help to a loved one without expecting anything in return and they will feel loved. Also, do not be afraid to cry together and do not forget to laugh together. Those moments will make two people closer.

Fun Times

“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine” (Proverbs 17:22) and two together are even better. Two could share activities like watching movies, reading a book out loud, or playing a game together. Go shopping together and take photos in the instant photo booth at the mall. Go ahead and buy a frame for the photos, and the loved one will know that it was an enjoyable moment. Enjoy a fire in the fireplace. Make it fun by roasting each other marshmallows. Allow time to be silly together: make music together and dance with each other even if it looks or sounds terrible.

Sweet Moments

Sweet gestures are always welcome in a healthy relationship. Offering a sweet moment will make a loved one feel content with love and smile. Offering a back rub or a massage offers comfort to a loved one. Take time to hold hands and cuddle. Give smiles and kisses. Pet names and endearing nicknames will make a loved one feel special. And it may sound silly, but try whispering sweet nothings.

And lastly, but so effective, one can always just look into his or her eyes and say, “I love you.” Those three little words go a long way.
