Music that creates the perfect vibe for an evening with your love.

The table is set, dinner made, and now all you need to complete the evening is the perfect selection of romantic music. The right songs don’t need to be sappy or melodramatic, but they do need to convey that sweet sense of falling in love.

Need some help getting started? Here are a few suggestions to set your night off right.

Question by Old 97s

This song hints at “the question” of asking someone to share your life, and yet at the same time it’s upbeat and sincere. Women love this song because of the sincerity and emotion expressed by the lead singer, while guys like the fact that it is still a cool rock tune.

Satellite Rides [Elektra Records, 2001]

Brown Skin by India Arie

India Arie’s music blends female empowerment, spirituality, and soulfulness together. Her music often reflects strength and examining of life, but much of her music is also about love and expression as well. On “Brown Skin,” her strong voice is sexy without being overdone.

Acoustic Soul [Motown, 2001]

Why Don’t You and I by Santana Featuring Chad Kroeger from Nickelback

You know that feeling when you realize you’ve been acting completely goofy over a new love? Nothing you say is what you intended because you’re so nervous, and yet you don’t care that you’re making a fool of yourself. This song catches exactly that vibe, and Santana’s guitar is the perfect companion to Chad Kroeger’s rock and blues voice.

Shaman [Arista, 2002]

I've Just Seen a Face by Lennon & McCartney

If you’ve ever looked across a room and noticed somebody special that you couldn’t forget, this song is for you. The song’s chorus portrayed a key moment in the 2007 movie Across the Universe. Actor Jim Sturgess sang “I’ve Just Seen a Face” upon first seeing his onscreen love, Lucy. The chorus will stick with you:

“Falling, yes I am falling

And she keeps calling me back again”

Help! [EMI Records,1965]

The Real Thing by Bo Bice

Bo Bice is a rocker that adds true emotion to his songs. You can’t help but get into the mood when listening to his voice. If you have ever wondered if the object of your affection felt the same as you, then this song will appeal to you. The words are sincere and represent that feeling of apprehension many couples experience early in their relationship:

“Tell me what we got, tell me it's a lot tell me it's the real thing

Tell me not to change and always be the same, tell me that's a good thing”

The Real Thing [RCA, 2005]

Allow these songs to inspire you when choosing the right soundtrack for your evening. Feel free to pull music from a variety of years and genres until you’ve got the right vibe specific to you and your partner.
