An FTD delivery is wonderful, but a special flower delivery today needs that personal touch. Here's how to order flowers for delivery and write the perfect message.

The array of possibilities including FTD delivery, and Internet flower delivery make it hard to go wrong when choosing to send a colorful bouquet. A flower delivery today of delicate roses, exotic orchids, bright sunflowers, or cheerful daisies is pretty much guaranteed to make someone smile. But crafting just the right message while on the phone to order flowers for delivery can often seem like more of a challenge.

Order Flowers for Delivery With a Personal Message

Fortunately, a flower delivery speaks volumes. The sentences inside the card simply need to connect the gift to the giver in a personal way.

Messages on flower delivery gift cards are generally only a few sentences long, but they can be packed with meaning. To make the words count, a sender should compose a message that avoids worn out clichés such as “All my love,” or “Love and kisses.” When the recipient reads the card, she should be able to hear the giver’s voice in the back of her mind.

If the person sending the flowers is a sentimental type, the message should reflect this. But a humorous or thoughtful message can be just as effective. Most importantly, the message should match the personality and speaking style of the sender.

Simply making sure to include pronouns such as “I” or “you” can change the whole tone of a card. For example, the generic message “Thinking of you,” carries so much more weight when written, “I’ve been thinking of you.” The message “Congratulations,” is much more personal when written, “Congratulations, I couldn’t be prouder of you.” And finally, the card, “Get well soon,” is certainly more meaningful when written, “I’m hoping and praying you get well soon.”

Prepare Before Calling to Order Flowers for Delivery

It can be nerve wracking to come up with heartfelt words on the spot. Since the message in a flower delivery is really the finishing touch to a very thoughtful gift, it’s a good idea to write it out before calling to place the order.

Nervousness usually leads to cliché cards like, “Hope these flowers brighten your day,” or “Happy anniversary.” With just a few extra moments of thought, these messages could be transformed into unique greetings such as, “Could these flowers possibly brighten up your long work day? Don’t make me wait till tonight to find out.” or “It’s been 22 years, and I’m so grateful to share another anniversary with you, darling.”

Florists can be a valuable resource when it comes to writing a message for a flower delivery, but their voice or choice of words probably won’t be a perfect fit. When stuck, it can be helpful to hear a few popular ideas from a florist, jot the suggestions down, and call back after mulling over a few original ways to make the message personal.

Order Flowers for Delivery at the Workplace

Those crafting a message for a flower delivery that will wind up on an office desk should keep in mind that the card is likely to be read by just about everyone and her sister. Though this may affect the boldness or the information chosen for a message, it shouldn’t affect the card’s tone. Personal is still absolutely the way to go.

Clichés may get a few polite “Aws,” but a really special message can get employees from the next floor up stopping over to take a peak. That sweet, personal, and heartfelt message will earn double points as envious co-workers congratulate the recipient all day long.
