Karaoke on a Date? Karaoke night is a creative date idea! Take your date to a Karaoke bar. Sing some Karaoke songs, laugh at others while they sing Karaoke. A fun date!

Nothing shows your date that you are the next great American Idol (or not) like date night at the Karaoke Bar for a night of music and laughs.

The Idea: Take your date to the local Karaoke Bar for a night of music and laughs.

The Steps:

  • Find a local bar or club that has a Karaoke night (You can most likely find a karaoke night every night of the week at different establishments around town)
  • Have a drink or two to calm your nerves (I don’t recommend that you become intoxicated though, as you might make a total fool of yourself, or hurt somebody, or both)
  • Talk to the DJ (they usually has a catalog of the songs that he or she has with them) and pick a song to sing.
  • Sing your Song (follow the bouncing ball)
  • Hear the applause, the booing, the laughter and have a laugh about it the rest of the night!

What to bring with you:

  • Cash or credit
  • Camera (so you can document you or your dates one shining moment. Bonus points for a camera that videotapes as well, so that your date can post you on Youtube)
  • Courage
  • Your singing voice (if you own one)
  • Your date (bonus for double dating, as Karaoke is great for couples night out.

The Pros:

  • You show your bravery and risk taking skills to your date. If you are willing to take this kind of a risk for your date, what else are you willing to do?
  • Perhaps you will find a new talent, or show off one that you already knew you had.
  • Making fun of yourself shows off your sense of humor.
  • If you like being the center of attention, here is your opportunity.
  • Gentlemen, you can romantically serenade your date, which will make all the other guys in the bar gag, and all of their dates swoon and be upset with their men, asking why they didn’t do something romantic like dedicate a song to them.
  • When you are not singing, you are listening. As you are listening, you get to do your best Simon Cowell impression, poking fun at the others who are butchering songs from the top-40.

The Cons:

  • If you can’t carry a tune, perhaps 2 drinks is not enough… for us to have had to be able to listen to you make a total mess of that Barry Manilow song!
  • Two words: Stage Fright!
  • If you or your date hates music or doesn’t have a sense of humor, this isn’t the date for you.
  • You might incorrectly interpret the smiles, clapping and laughter after you perform as being an affirmation of your singing talent, quit your day job for American Idol, and become the next William Hung or Sanjaya. (not a good move)

The Verdict:

  • Romance: Not very romantic of a place for a date, but you can make up for it by singing a romantic song to your date.
  • Cost: Pretty inexpensive evening out!.
  • Excitement: Alcohol, friends, music, and foolishness: what more could you ask for!
  • Creativity: This depends on what songs you sing, perhaps more entertaining than any dinner and a movie!
  • Overall: Karaoke night gets high ranks, especially for double dates. Who knows, you could become your dates own “Personal Idol” 7/10

Dating, but still stumped on creative date ideas? Try these on for size: salsa dancing, whale watching, bowling
