Dating that special person is exciting and a lot of fun. Creative dating activities are always a lot of fun and will surely impress that dream guy or girl.

Dates can be very traditional and predictable. Why not choose more creative dating ideas like discovering caves, reading to each other from a beautiful book or going for a canoe ride at night? These ideas will surely impress that dream guy or girl!

Plus, the unique dating ideas below all have one thing in common: they focus on activities to do together and the possibility of really getting to know each other. They are also very cheap date ideas or even free date ideas. Off course, going to the movies can be nice, but it’s not a great opportunity to learn more about the interests of that dream guy or dream girl and it's not so creative.

Creative Romantic Dates

Read to each other: Who said reading was not sexy? Light a lot of candles, put some snacks and drinks on the table and get that favorite book or poem out of the closet. Couples can then read beautiful poems and chapters from their favorite books to each other. Try to guess how the books end or play a scene from the book. Fun guaranteed!

Take funny and romantic pictures: Head over to some nice locations and take funny pictures of each other. Once this is done, ask by-passers to take pictures while you are holding each other or staring into each other’s eyes. Don't like strangers taking these romantic pictures? Then bring a tripod and make them yourself! Have the nicest pictures printed and hang them on the refrigerator door.

Write letters: Both take a piece of paper, a pen and an envelope and go sit in different rooms. Write a love letter and be as honest as possible. Don't be afraid to sound corny. Seal the letters and exchange. Couples can decide to read the letter immediately, but it's much more fun to agree to keep the letters unopened for one year and then read them.

Unusual Sporty Dates

Discover speleology: Why go skating or rollerblading when there are more creative sports to try out on a date? Head over to the caves and learn all about speleology. Cheer each other on and help each other conquer the caves. Make sure to book a tour with a guide though and don't go into the caves alone.

Go for a canoe ride: Going for a canoe ride is always a lot of fun, but it's even nicer at night. Wait until night falls and rent a canoe. Stop several times to watch the stars or to eat some strawberries. Make sure to wear a lifevest and bring a flashlight for safety.

Unique Dinner Dates with a Twist

Picnic in the backyard: Food, a bottle of wine and a blanket; it’s all that’s needed to go for a picnic. Choose for traditional food like sandwiches or cheese and wine or cook up something special like a pasta salad with mozzarella.

Who said going for a picnic has to be done at the park? Couples with a backyard can easily have a picnic on their own lawn! What's so nice about it? There will be no one around to disturb the piece and quiet!

Eat at home with a blindfold: Why go to a restaurant when eating at home can be equally as nice? Make a nice dinner or buy some yummy food from a caterer. Open up a bottle of wine and decorate the tables with beautiful napkins, glasses and candles.

One person should be blindfolded and the other hands little spoons of food to his date. The blindfolded person has to guess what he's eating and which ingredients were used. After a while, switch blindfolds. Then have dessert, without the blindfold. Choose for a special dessert like Italian home-made tiramisu or a cake made with fresh yoghurt and fruit.

Coming up with a creative dating idea is not as hard as it seems. Try to think outside the box and choose activities like writing letters, feeding each other while blindfolded or having that traditional picnic in the backyard.
