Bowling is a great date idea. Visit your local bowling alley or center, pick up a bowling ball, lace up your bowling shoes, and have a fun night of bowling excitement.
At first thought, a night out bowling might not be considered the most creative date idea. Creative, no, but fun, absolutely! Get to a bowling alley, lace up your bowling shoes, grab a bowling ball, and turn your next date into a fun night of bowling. Here’s how:
The Idea: Take your date to your local bowling alley for a fun night of bowling.
The Steps:
Find a local bowling alley. (if you don’t have any idea where your local bowling alley is, you can always look in the phone book, call information, or do a Google search for local bowling alleys or bowling centers)
Rent some bowling shoes (if you don’t own a pair of bowling shoes)
Have the person behind the counter assign you a bowling lane.
Pick a bowling ball to bowl with (unless you own your own bowling ball)
Bowl to your hearts content, the cows come home, or you arm falls off. (whichever comes first)
What to bring with you to the bowling alley:
Cash (for bowling shoes, the bowling lane, food, drink, etc.)
Camera (you never know when you will have a Kodak moment while bowling)
Bowling Ball (if you own one)
Bowling Shoes (if own a pair)
Socks (because you don’t want to stick your bare foot into someone else’s toe jam)
Your date (we wouldn’t want him or her to miss you looking like a fool in those shoes!)
The Pros of going Bowling on a date:
You get your exercise while bowling. (not really, but you can call it a sport and show off your athletic prowess)
Bowling alleys are great places for conversations. (think about it, how are you going to get to know your date, especially a first date, at the movie theater?)
You can let your hair down. Bowling alleys let a grown-up be a kid.
You can flirt in public at the Bowling alley. Imagine your date, takes the ball, bends over showing off his or her assets in tight jeans, before rolling a ball at some pins. Odds are you can come up with a corny, off-color joke in there somewhere. Light Public Displays of Affection (PDA) encouraged!
Beer and Nachos. Nothing says bowling alley like a pitcher of Bud Light and some chips and cheese-whiz.
Bowling allows for fun and friendly competition. Make a bet with your date such as: winner gets to choose the place for the next date.
Bowling alleys have electronic scoring. No more pencil and paper; let the computer do it for you!
Bowling alleys are practically in every town.
The Cons of going Bowling on a date:
Rented Bowling Shoes. Anyone have a can of Lysol?
Bowling Alleys can get noisy! This is probably not the place to have a serious life-chat with your date.
No privacy at the bowling alley. That gutterball you just threw? Yeah, they all saw it!
Place still smells like the bottom of an ashtray, even though they went no-smoking 10 years ago.
Not the most romantic of date locals. (unless you call disco/laser night romantic)
The Verdict about Bowling on a date:
Romance: Not very romantic of a place for a date, but flirting here is encouraged.
Cost: Inexpensive, unless you start drinking the expensive drinks instead of cheap swill.
Excitement: 1 ball, 10 pins, a greasy bowling lane, and a couple… now that is the recipe for fun!
Creativity: Not as exciting as whale watching, but bowling can be much more interactive.
Overall: Bowling might be something different for the “dinner and a movie” crowd. 7/10
