In a rut when it comes to meeting people? Try these alternatives.
People are generally creatures of habit. They like to hang out with the same people, go to the same clubs, and drive the same way to work if they can help it. Doing the same things everyday isn’t so bad, but getting stuck in a dating routine is.
If the problem is that you just keep getting rejected, you may have to find out why. However, if the way you go about meeting people isn’t netting you new results, why continue doing it? Here are some suggestions to change things up:
Why? You’ve already mastered the art of the eight-minute conversation. Instead of switching to a new table after a couple minutes, just head toward another person in the room and chat them up instead. Since you’ve been Speed Dating you have a good idea of how to ask things that will quickly determine if the person is worth your time to get to know.
Why? Look at it this way, at least with a matchmaker you don’t have to worry about disappointing your friend if the date doesn’t work out. Just call up your matchmaker and ask them to try someone else. They can’t say no, you’re paying them after all!
If you’ve tried: The Club Scene
Instead try: Singles Cruises
Why? You’ll still be surrounded by singles that want to have a good time, but this time it won’t necessarily be centered on drinking. The festive atmosphere and ability to freely mingle will mimic the club scene but present much less pressure in approaching people. After all, with a single’s cruise you know everyone there is looking to meet someone new.
Why? You’re already comfortable with the concept of coffee dating and getting to know someone via email. Lunch Dating incorporates both of these things but switches them around. You meet via a quick meal or drink after work and if you both liked each other, follow up with email.
A second alternative if you’re online dating is simply to move to a different dating site. Look to some of the top sites as a place to start. However, there are many other sites that cater to everything from political affiliation to disability requirements. Any one of these may introduce you to someone new you wouldn’t have otherwise met on your own.
